David struggled at times with the opposition he faced – don’t we all? Psalm 56 records his response in one such instance. What amazed, and delighted, me was verse 8,
Psalm 56:8
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
My mind is blown at the thought of God keeping my tears, physically or metaphorically I don’t care here, in a bottle. What intimacy, what care, what outrageously extravagant love.
Yet there is more, verses 9-11,
Then my enemies will turn back
in the day when I call.
This I know, that God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise,
in the LORD, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
God is for me – it doesn’t get any better than that!
